Thank you for your interest in business opportunities in the U.S. Territories and Freely Associated States!

We invite you to take a few minutes to explore the many resources available on this site. This effort is part of an ongoing initiative of the U.S. Department of the Interior's Office of Insular Affairs, supporting economic development in the insular areas. This website is being developed as a tool, to support both global investors and island partners in the development of win-win business opportunities in all the islands. On this site you will find reports on each island, compiled by OIA's Island Fellows Program. You will find links to government agencies that support business development, and to other organizations in the islands and in the fifty states.

DOI is proud to report that its 2005 Business Opportunities Missions have been quite successful. Thirty-five companies, ranging from industry leaders like Starwood Hotels and Resorts and the Stanford Financial Group to smaller, specialized technology, logistics, and tourism companies, have participated in three separate Missions, to Guam, Saipan, Palau, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and American Samoa. But as OIA’s Deputy Assistant Secretary has pointed out during past conferences, this does not represent the culmination of this effort; rather, it is only the beginning.

The Conference and Missions were designed to provide an opportunity for island businesses and potential global partners/investors to meet, network, and forge new partnerships to make the most of win-win business opportunities. Virtually every one of these organizations is pursuing at least one new business venture in one of the jurisdictions that they visited, and our follow-up is ongoing. We hope to see some of these connections produce positive results. The purpose of this website is to be used as a tool to assist your efforts.

This effort is a work-in-progress. We are always interested in your comments on these tools and our other efforts, and would welcome any suggestions you may have. The Department of Interior cannot endorse any organization, project, or opportunity; our role in this effort is as facilitators. We encourage you to perform your own research and due diligence before entering into any partnership. Please send any and all inquiries to info@islandbusinessopportunities.com.

Thank you again for your interest. We look forward to continuing to work with you to help you find win-win opportunities in the islands.
